  • Speech Issue

    Speech Issue
When I was a little girl, I had a speech issue and would not speak. My parents wanted to get me help so that I could speak. We tried speech therapy but it was not very helpful so it was decided to give up on fixing the issue with therapy. Once I started speaking, I had trouble with prononcing sounds which made it difficult and made me insecure. Overtime, I got better with my speech. Even though I still struggle with the issue, I've overcome the challenges.

When I was younger, I would spend every weekend with my grandmother and she had a mini book that we would read before bed. The story was The Little Mermaid.

    EEKK
In first grade, my teacher would give us carpets to sit on that we would read a book with a partner. Each day, I would have the same partner and we would have to sit elbow to elbow, knee to knee hence the acronym EEKK.

    Fourth Grade Reading Time
In fouth grade, we would read the book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and I remember how we would read some of the series. I don't remeber everything about it exactly but I remember that the main character had a little brother and also had a turtle.
  • The Downfall

    The Downfall
In seventh grade, my teacher was difficult for me to handle and I constantly felt dissatisfied with my progress within the course. That year was overall a hard year and it really made me feel as if english was not going to be my strong suit. However, I was given the chance to redeem myself at the end of the year which made me feel better about my grades on english, making me realize I am capable of great things, I just need to give myself the chance, especially when it comes to school.
  • Edgar Allan Poe

    Edgar Allan Poe
Right before lockdown, my 8th grade english teacher had us read some Edgar Allen Poe poems and stories. As we read, we got projects that corresponded with these stories. The story we focused on the mose was The Tell-Tale Heart. Two of these major projects that really influenced me included making a tik tok, as well as gathering information to build a court case which we later acted out in the classroom. These stories were truly interesting to me and really inspired me to keep reading.
