"Animal Ark" Series
I read the whole series in 4th grade. We had to read books, of our choosing, and take short quizzes of them online. -
"Sammy Keyes" Series - Wendelin Vaan Draanen
A friend recommended this series to me. I read it independently and would always read the books in my free time. -
"The Hunger Games" - Suzanne Collins
I checked this book out of our school library and read independently. I recommended it to my friends and we would always discuss it. -
"The Outsiders" - S.E. Hinton
The class was assigned to read this book in 7th grade. This was the first book I had to write a formal essay for. -
"The Giver" - Lois Lowry
We had to read this novel for class independently. I found it to be intriguing. -
"Romeo and Juliet" - William Shakespeare
This was the first play I had read. We read it aloud in class, with each person playing a specific character. It was challenging to read because of the language used. -
"To Kill A Mockingbird" - Harper Lee
This book was read in class and at home. I liked it because if pertained to the American culture of the 1930's. -
"Of Mice and Men" - John Steinbeck
We were assigned to read this book in class and at home. It informed us on previous American culture and attitudes. -
"Lord of The Flies" - William Golding
We had to read this book outside of class and take quizzes on each chapter in class the next day. I did not enjoy reading this book and the quizzes for it were too specific. -
"The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" - Mark Twain
This may have been the longest novel we had to read in school. It also focused on American culture. -
"Raisin in The Sun" - Lorraine Hansberry
This was the first play I enjoyed reading. We read it aloud with the class and were quizzed on sections of the play. -
"The Great Gatsby" - F. Scott Fitzgerald
This was my favorite book assigned in school. We read it both at home and in class. -
"Hamlet" - William Shakespeare
This was the second Shakespeare I read. We read it aloud with the class. -
"Into The Wild" - Jon Krakauer
This was the first nonfiction book that I had assigned in school. It was also one of my favorite books assigned.
