My Name Book
After I was born(and named), my parents made a custom book about my name to help me learn to read and write my own name. The image is of that book, but with someone else's name. -
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
I don't remember reading this but I know that I have multiple copies of it in my basement -
Superhero School
Superhero school is the first book I have a memory of reading, and I still have it today. My dad got it for me and it helped grow my love of fantasy and science fiction -
Fly Guy
From pre-school to about first grade, I was obsessed with a series called Fly Guy. I refused to read any other book, and had almost every one in the series. -
Powerless
Powerless was the first real chapter book I ever read, and was around 200 pages long. It was about a boy who moved to a new town, and found kids with powers, and had to try to fit in and keep up despite his normality -
Warriors Cats series
In fourth grade, I was introduced to the Warriors series, which spans over 100 books(I think) and that is what truly blasted off my interest in reading. I spent a good chunk of the next two years chasing down all of the books in the series and sitting and binge reading them. To this day I still have around 50 of the books sitting in my closet. The are all between 200-500 pages and I have reread the series multiple times -
Percy Jackson
After Warriors, I had trouble finding a book that would grab my attention as Warriors did, until Percy Jackson. I became engulfed in the world of Greek mythology after reading and rereading the multiple Percy Jackson based series. While the books have become a bit outdated for my age, I would still say it is my favorite book franchise overall. -
Harry Potter
During quarantine, I got a serious concussion and was not allowed to use electronics or anything that would need high concentration. To get through these couple of weeks, I decided to use audiobooks to pass the time. I spent all of the three weeks lying around and listening to the Harry Potter books. I have since reread the physical copies and still love them. -
Hobbit/Lord of the Rings
After realizing that fantasy was what I enjoyed the most, I committed to reading one of the most popular fantasy series of all time. I was not ready for the difficulty of this series. Despite its short length, the vocabulary and pacing of the story was a challenge for me at the time. I enjoyed the series, but had trouble retaining info from each story. I followed up this with a book called Eregon, which I had a similar experience with. I did enjoy both however. -
School Books
Freshman year we read Fahrenheit 451, All Quiet on the Western Front, Animal Farm, Romeo and Juliet, and Night. Sophomore year we read Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, Julius Caesar, and The Great Gatsby I consistently got good essay grades. Aside from one freshman year, I don't think I have gotten below an A- on an essay since.
