Literacy Narrative Timeline

  • Grandma's Biscuits

    Grandma's Biscuits
When I was young I used to love to read small but powerful books. My mom went to the library once a week with me to pick out a book to read at night. When this began, I was getting books that were very fun and playful and I really didn't like them. One day I was unable to go to library but my mom went anyway and she brought home Grandma's Biscuits. I read that book so many times I knew the book word for word.
  • Josh Turner

    Josh Turner
When I was young, my mom used to listen to a lot of Justin Turner and I would always pick up on words he sang. When I got old enough to really get his music it made me feel like everything would be okay and that helped me through a lot of things. His lyrics always touched someone somewhere and they touched me quite a bit.
  • Junie B. Jones

    Junie B. Jones
In first grade my teacher gave me my first chapter book to read because I talked a lot. Because of this series my reading and writing was jump started and I never stopped.
  • Parrot reads with me

    Parrot reads with me
When I was seven my grandpa bought me a parrot for my birthday and it was my life for a little over two years. Every night I would read a chapter of Hatchet and the first night I got my parrot I was reading and I realized that my parrot was saying some of the words I was saying. Soon we were reading together and I never stopped until he passed when I was nine.
  • Podcasts

    Podcasts
When podcasts became big I started listening to some athletic speakers and then I got really interested in food critics and chefs that had their own podcasts. This all started in 2012 and I still listen to them a lot.
  • Remember the Titans

    Remember the Titans
In the fourth grade I had the pleasure to watch one of the greatest movies, in my opinion, of all time in Remember the Titans. I was sitting at home watching TV when it came on and I was mesmerized by the movie. I bought the DVD and still have that same DVD. Every time I watch it I get a new meaning from something in it. Even today I still look at the movie and see something new.
  • Personal Poems

    Personal Poems
In my seventh grade English class we began writing poems about random topics. After a while I began getting very good at making them and they became very fun. Some where as short as three lines and others as long as three pages.
  • The Nutcracker

    The Nutcracker
In the seventh grade I was the lead role in the school play named The Nutcracker. In that play I had to read and memorize 98 different lines for the play as well as eight songs. To go along with this we performed the play on three different occasions.
  • Divergent

    Divergent
The Divergent trilogy was introduced to me in the seventh grade by a fellow classmate and at first I didn't think I would even like the genre of book it was. After I began reading the book I had the entire series read in under a month. Soon after I read the series a second time, dystopian novels became my new favorite time killers. A few months after I had read the series I got the series signed by the author Veronica Roth.
  • O Brother, Where Art Thou

    O Brother, Where Art Thou
At age thirteen I watched the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou and it completely changed my perception on poverty. I must have watched the movie at least ten times and even got the soundtrack to go with it. I still enjoy watching it today.
