Green Eggs and Ham
When I was younger Green Eggs and Ham was my favorite book. My mom and grandma would read it to me until I was able to read it myself. I think I liked the book so much because of the way it was written and the pictures in the book. -
Junie B Jones
When I was in elementary school my mom and I also read the Junie B Jones books, sometimes I would read them by myself but it was more fun when we would read them together. I enjoyed the books and I thought it was cool that we had the same last name. -
Twilight
Later in middle school I got into the twilight books. I've read all of the books and watched all of the movies. I usually don't like to read but everyone said they were good so I started to reading them and I couldn't put them down. I really like the movies too but I still thought the books were better. -
Hunger Games
The next big book series I read was The Hunger Games. No one recommended it to me I just heard about it and I wanted to read them. This is another book series that I thought the books were better than the movies. I couldn't put the books down and I kept hoping there'd be more books. -
The Great Gatsby
For another english class we read "The Great Gatsby" which I was very excited to read. I thought the book was good and very well written, and the movie was really good too. We also read this as a a class and had numerous assignments and discussions about what we read. -
Religious Education
When my mom and her sister their mom put them through religious education so my mom put me through it as well. We would read scriptures out of the bible and we'd do activities and things that went along with what we read. We would go to mass and follow along with the readings and songs we sang. -
Reading Reviews
Whenever I order something online I always read the reviews. I was looking to get a new phone case so I went on amazon and whenever I found one I liked I would read the reviews, most of them weren't good; they said they were cheaply made and broke easily or didn't look like what the picture showed. I ended up just going out to at&t and getting one from somewhere I trusted. -
Restaurant Reviews
I love trying new restaurants so sometimes if I want to go somewhere new I'll read some reviews but food is harder because everyone has different preferences and certain things taste different to people but its still good to read others opinions. I'm picky about my food so I try to try new places that have more good reviews than mixed or bad. -
Trying to Diagnose Myself
Whenever I'm sick I always look up my symptoms on google to see what I could possibly have. I also watch Grey's Anatomy a lot so I tend to refer to that and link things that happened in an episode to my own symptoms or condition. Might not be the best thing to do because then I get worried that I'm sicker than I actually am. -
Library Card
My mom got me a hedberg public library when I was a kid. Now that I'm older and theres netflix I don't really use it anymore. I used to use it to check out books and movies but now I don't really need to. It's a good thing to have and to give to kids so it opens up doors for them to start engaging with books and other learning activities they offer there. -
Rewarded for Reading
The school and hedberg public library used to give away prizes such as gift cards, little toys or even water park tickets ect for reading a certain amount of books or hours. I always did that because I wanted the prize and reading to get them was something easy and enjoyable because I could read whatever I wanted. -
Food Labels
Sometimes when I'm bored grocery shopping I''ll read the ingredients and nutrition facts off random food labels, I also will read the back of cereal boxes. It always amazes me to see what and how much of things they get away with putting in certain foods and how bad somethings really are for us. -
News articles
With the election that just happened and other craziness going on in the world I've found myself reading my news articles. Some good and some bad but it's always interesting to read about things happening in other countries or other states and different things you wouldn't know about if you didn't have internet or television, -
Work Reading
When I first was applying for jobs d I had to read over the application and follow how to fill it out. Then when i actually got hired I had to read over all the rules, guidelines , descriptions of what my job would entail and stuff like that. Now I have to read and understand things like marketing and store changes when it's time do that. -
A Writer?
I would say the first time I considered myself a "writer" was one I had my first big book report due in elementary. I thought it was the coolest thing that I wrote a long paper and I thought I wrote so well, I don't know if I still have it and I don't even remember what it was about I just remember thinking it was the coolest thing and being proud that I did it. -
Charlotte's Web
Charlotte's Web was another one of my favorite books as a young kid. My mom read it to me and we watched the movies. One time I was watching the movie with my grandma and we were also making brownies or chocolate cake and I had chocolate batter all over my face at the same time the pig in the movie (Wilbur) was in the mud and my grandma started calling me Wilbur after that. -
Harry Potter
My mom and I also read and watched the Harry Potter books and movies. We had to read them together because they were too big for me to read and understand on my own. I was into them because my mom read them and I thought all the magic was cool. To this day I haven't read all the books or watched all the movies. -
Teen Magazines
My mom got me a lot of teen magazines because my favorite celebrities at the time were in them often. I also liked to read them and know what was going on with them and look at the pictures and do some of the activities and quizzes they had in them. -
Of Mice and Men
In high school we read the book "of mice and men" for one of my english classes. I didn't hate or love the book, overall it was a decent book. It helped that we read it together as a class and had a lot of discussions about what we read but we were still forced to read it. -
Catcher in the Rye
We also read the book "The Catcher in the Rye" which I ended up liking and hating at the same time. There was some stuff I really liked and other stuff it was written weird and difficult to understand. This was another book that we read as a class so it made it easier.
