History Of Him A young African American boy, was brutally murdered for "whistling" at a white woman. Two white man brutally murdered him. They later were telling people that they killed him and were happy about it. They were placed in front of an all white jury; they were not punished for their crimes, they were praised. -
Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks History After a hard day from work Rosa Parks made a statement in the fight against racism. By refusing to move from her seat (when she was in a white person spot.) Because of Rosa Parks actions the busses were soon desegregated and boycotted. Her face was plastered as the symbol of the bus boycott. This major act helped the desegregation movement move forth into greater things. -

On this day Melody set forth on a new journey through school. -
Martin Luther King
MLK On this date Martin Luther King created a civil rights group to fight for desegregation. He had help from his fellow fighters. This is when Martin Luther King started being recognized for great, peaceful acts against desegregation. Many people started joining MLK in his peaceful acts. -
Sit In
Woolworth's Sit In Four black students from Greensboro, North Carolina began a sit in. At the Woolworth's lunch counter they told the four students that they don't serve African Americans. From then on the four students came back every day with their peers, until the coffee shop was desegregated. This act then spread through the south helping coffee shops become desegregated allowing anyone to be served. -

NASA Alen Shephard Jr. was the first Amerian man to travel into outer space! The space ship he went up on was called the Freedom 7 spacecraft. Alen Shephard Jr. and his spacecraft were in a prodject called Mercury! NASA wanted Alen Shephard Jr. to orbit around the Earth. -

Act President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. This allowed African Americans to be freew and act how they please. White people couldn't look down and treat them poorly because of skin color. -

KKK Three men James E. Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner were murdered by the KKK. The KKK came after them because they were all a part of the desegregation process. All three of them had been working to allow African Americans to vote. Which the KKK didn’t approve of because they wanted to keep everything segregated. -
Bloody Sunday
Bloody Sunday On bloody Sunday many people lost their lives or were injured. State troopers violently attack peaceful protesters because of the “threat they were causing”. Fifty marchers were placed in hospital care. The police used tear gas, whips, and clubs against them. MLK Assassinated
Assasination Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis by James Earl Ray. This broke the hearts of many but this helped many African Americans fight harder to avenge his death (Peacefully.) Because of his death, many people realized how significant he really was and they joined his movements to fight for desegregation. -
Civil Rights Act
President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, on this date. This act prohibited discrimination for any race, or sex. This helped the movement in desegregation of the tates. -

Earth Day On this day many people try to make the world a better place by celebrating their first Earth Day. Senator Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day. He wanted to create Earth Day because he realized that too much pollution was spreading across the world, and there was so much litter on the streets. -
