Life of Danny Lee

  • Born

    Born
Danny Lee was born this day. The date was March 6th 2001, and his legal name was chosen to be Lee DongGuk. He was born in Seoul, Korea. Hospital name is unknown. I was the second child, the second boy of the family. It was 4 years since my older brother was born.
  • Period: to

    Australia

I went to Australia with my mother and brother to learn English for two years. My dad stayed in Korea, working in an electronics company. I still do not know the reason why he didn't follow us, but I think that probably the company didn't allow him to move to the Australian branch of the company.
I developed my English skills a lot, especially I was attending a local school when I was young.
  • First try of football

    First try of football
After getting used to the new school (moved schools about this time), I met friends who really liked to play football. Although all we did together was punt the ball as far as possible and see who can punt the ball the furthest, it was so fun that I play football and like the sport until now.
  • Head Injury

    Head Injury
I hurt my head as I banged on the edge of a wall while moving a chair. My mom and I went straight to the emergency room to check the injury. My head was cut on the right side and was bleeding bad. Fortunately, the cut wasn't so bad and the doctor put medicine that stopped the bleeding on my head. I still have a small scar of the injury.
  • Period: to

    Singapore

The whole family lived in Singapore for approximately 4 years because of my dad's company. Since my dad had to work in Singapore for a couple years, we decided to follow him and live there too.
  • Goalkeeper

    Goalkeeper
On this day I started to be a goalkeeper when playing football. As I said previously, I was really slim and light, and had no power in my shots. A friend recommended me to play as goalkeeper since I was fast, and it worked out great! Well... it was fun, but I wasn't really good at it. I kept improving my skills to become a great goalkeeper.
  • First Football Tournament

    First Football Tournament
This was my first "official" tournament against other international schools. I played as goalkeeper and we were in the B division for football. All I remember was that it was total madness, just kicking balls around. We met several "real" teams that played actual football and were wrecked by them. We ended up getting 4th place in the tournament out of 8 teams.
  • Math Competition

    Math Competition
I participated in a match competition on this day. It wasn't really anything special because it was just solving equations as fast as possible. I managed to get first place in the competition and get coloring pencils as a prize, After I won, people called me a Korean math magician, and I liked the nickname a lot.
  • Football Tournament Champions

    Football Tournament Champions
Again in the B division for football, our school managed to get first place in the football tournament. I played goalkeeper yet again, and was proud of my record of only 4 goals let in throughout the tournament. The key to victory was fast passing and lots of training.
  • Period: to

    China

I also lived in China for approximately two years, again by following our dad's movement. The plan was to learn Chinese as a second foreign language, but I feel I learnt more English in China than Chinese.
  • School Moves

    School Moves
The school I was attending was really small. The school was as if they rented a villa and made it into a school. The school was constructed at another place and was fairly big. It was located at a less polluted area of Beijing, so it was easy to breathe there. Lots of new students came and I also made new friends as a result.
  • Math Competition

    Math Competition
The school participated in a math competition where many international schools worldwide participated in. It wasn't really a hard test, but it was hard for a six grader I was. I had a really close score for qualifying into the Olympiad, actually I remember it as I got one question wrong from qualification, but I failed in the end. Although it could have been the first sixth
  • Basketball Tournament

    Basketball Tournament
Although I did play a bit of basketball when I was in Australia, this was when I started to play at a certain level. I was not really as tall as the others so I played as a shooting guard. All of my friends never really tried basketball a lot, since we all played football. After realizing basketball is a pretty fun sport, we all practiced for the tournament every day. Hard work always pay off, we managed to get 3rd place in the tournament even though we were all new to basketball.
  • Basketball 1st

    Basketball 1st
"The smell of victory.” CDS middle school basketball team won the championship cup of the basketball season on this day. We met one challenging team but eventually won by a point difference. While returning, people kept saying the sweat smell stinks, but Mr. Clem quoted it as "the smell of victory."
