EGGS HATCH

LARVA
Wigglers fast growers. Shed skin 4 times during this cycle of growth. At 4th Molt the Larva changes into a Pupa. Life Cycle is 7 - 10 days -
Pupa
This is the non-feeding stage or resting stage. Metamorphis occurs during this time changing pupa into adult. Usually the cycle is 1 to 4 days -
Adults
At completion of metamorphis, an adult mosquito imerges. Crawling out of the water and rest while the exoskeleton harden and to dry its wings. When wings are dry the mosquito can now fly -
Male and Females Mate
Within two days after emerging from Pupa Stage. Males will form a large swarm in which the female flys into and mates and flys out of the swarm. -
Female Mosquito has first blood meal
After mating the mosquito is now requiring blood to feed her eggs. After her meal she rests a few days to digest the blood and develope her eggs. This usually is 2-3 days long. -
Male Mosquito Dies
Usually within 7 days from emerging from pupa stage males die. -
Female lays her eggs
Once the eggs have developed the female lays her eggs, and continues the cycle of blood meals and production of eggs until she dies. Death usually occurs 14-30 days after emerging from pupa. -
Female Dies
During her life span one female can lay 200 eggs per clutch. In her lifetime she can deposit 6 different times. One female mosquito can lay up to 1200 eggs. Of which only 1/2 survive and only 1/2 of those are female to repeat the continuous cycle. If the weather gets cold before laying. The female can hibernate and emerge in the spring to continue the cycle
