    Newspapers had been a vital source of information for people living in the city.Magazines appeared weekly or monthly and contained helpful articles, advertising, and fiction..Magazines such as McClure's, Cosmopolitan, and Munsey's.

    By 1880 there was already one telephone for every one thousand people in the United States. Doctors estimated that they saved thousands of lives every year because they were summoned by telephone to treat emergencies.

    In many southern communities, whites were concerned that if African Americans were allowed to vote, they would gain to much political power. As a result,during the 189 0southern states began using seeral tactics to deny the vote to blacks. Some states required to own property or to pay a poll tax.

    By the time of the Civil War, more than half of the nation's white children were attending the nation's free public schools. Most of the children atteded school for a few years and learned how to read and write. By 1990, 31 states required children between the ages of 8 to 14 to attend school. This had a powerful effect. More than 72 percent of america attened school.

    The Model T was introduced to the public in October 1908. Henry Ford was founder of the Ford Motor Company. The Model T production lowered its price and made it the first automobile average Americans could afford. The revolution was in the process of making Model T. They changed the process of the Model T assembly line. The workers didn’t have to move from car, the car moved to them. This is how the method of selling goods changed during the 20th century.
