Protesters flood streets
Nearly 200 protesters flood the streets, protesting against the arrest of a human rights activist in the city of Benghazi. Local police say that there is really nothing big going on. -
Police battle crowd
Police have now used a new level of force to stop the protesters. They are now using guns and tear gas to battle back the crowd. Though unclear, the Human Rights Program sets the death toll to 84 people -

Barack Obama signs an order to freeze Moammar Gadhafi's assets. -
EU takes action
The EU bans the sales and delivery of arms and ammunition sales to Libya and their leader Gadhafi. -
Flight Surveillance Added
NATO decides to crack down on smuggling to Libya and begins to moniter incoming flights 24/7 in hopes of overturning smuggled guns. -
No fly zone enforced
The United Nations Sercurity Council was in favor by ten out of fifteen votes to put a no fly zone over libya. This act is to make sure that planes flying through will not be shot at by Libya. It will also stop Libya from bombing its own country. -
Gadhafi speaks out
Gadhify appers on Libya state TV stating that Libya has the problems under control. That Libya has the right to fix itself and the UN does not need to "but in". -
Beaten woman in Tripoly
Abruised up lady runs into a hotel in Tripoly. She claims she was beaten and raped at a checkpoint by guards. Libya's government says that she is drunk and mentally ill. Later they change their story and investigate the guards. -
Gadhifi urges NATO
Gadhifi tries to negotiate with NATO to stop the airstrikes on his battered county. He acuuses him of killing inocent civillians. -
Civillians flee
Scared citizens run away from Libya and take shelter in neighboring counties. -
NATO extends mission
NATO decides to stay in Libya for ninety more days. They think "their work isn't done". Also, the oil minister flees the country to Italy, saying there is too much violence in this country. -
Charges assessed
Charges are assessed by the International Criminal Court on Moammar Gadhafi, his son Saif al-Islam Gadhafi and his brother-in-law Abdullah al-Sanussi for "crimes against humanity". Many of these charges were for murder and pececution and manslaughter. -
Rebels are winning the war
Anti-Gadhafi groups announce that they are taking control of key points in Tripoli -
The war is over
Libyan rebel groups have completely taken contol of Gadhafi military bases. Hostages are freed. Gadhafi delivers a speak on the radio saying that he is not defeated. His location is unknown.
