    Lewis and Clark's camp was met by a party of indians, from the yankton Sioux, the more peaceful neighbors of the powerful Teton Sioux Tribe. The Yankton warned Lewis and Clark about the bad reception they would get by entering Teton Sioux Territory
  • Standoff with the Teton Sioux

    Lewis and Clark standoff against the Teton Sioux, who demaded a boat as tribte for passing through their lands. Both sides withdrew at the last moment, leaving bad feelings with the indians.
  • Winter Among the Mandan

    Lewis and Clark stop the journey for the winter at Fort Mandan, and spend the winter hunting buffalo, repairing their equipment and trading with the indians of the region. Here they meet Sacagewea

    Lewis and Clark near the Pacific Ocean and prepare to spend the winter on the coast.

    Lewis and Clark perpare to make the journey home, but must time it just right to make it over the mountains when the snow melted.

    On the way back to America, Clark's group accidentally shot Lewis, inflicting a painful wound to bear for the rest of the journey. The Missouri River carried them home quickly

    Lewis and Clark finally return home and are hailed as heroes to the American people.
