Expedition Begins
Meriweather Lewis and William Clark begin their expedition, making their way up the Missouri River. -
The Sioux cause an uproar
the Sioux demand a boat in order to pass through the territory. Lewis and Clark pull their weapons on them and this ends the effort to maintain friendly relations with the Sioux. -
The men try to beat winter
Lewis and Clark and their men try to build a fort before winter approaches. before December the fort is finished but the temperatures drop below 0 degrees, making food scarce. -
Lewis and Clark hire an interpreter
During the winter Lewis and Clark hire an interpreter at fort Mandan to talk with the natives. The interpreters wife turned out to be Sacagawea -
Lewis and Clark split up
the men come to a fork in the river. They are unsure which way to go so Lewis and 3 men go through the south side to see if they're on the Missouri. they eventually find the falls of the Missouri to assure Lewis it's the Missouri. -
Horses are found
The men see a Shoshone Indian on horseback which they had been looking for. They trade with the Shoshone for horses in order to cross the Rockies. -
The men reach the Pacific
the men ride their horses through the last mountain range between them and the pacific. in November they reach the Pacific -
Winter....again
They face a rainy winter on the pacific. The men spend most of the time making clothes, storing food and writing maps. -
Lewis and Clark head home
The men ride the Missouri back down to St. Louis. Although, before this one of the men had accidentally shot Lewis. Thankfully, the wound is not fatal. -
The Journey Ends
Lewis And Clark enter the mississippi river and get off in St. Louis where they end their journey.The Journey took 2 years, 4 months, and 10 days.
