The expedition sets sail up the Misouri River on the 14th of May. Dozens of people are there to set them off. They pull and push the boat with poals up the river for 14 miles in the day. Lewis is not there with them yet. -

First Contact
The first encounter with the Indian tribes are with the Oto and Missouri tribes, they give out gifts and make peace with the tribes, a great start for the expadition. -
The Party's Causality
Charles Floyd died on Aug 20 1804 most likely of burst appendex, they buried him on Floyd's Bluff, near Floyd's River. -
A Baby is Born
After meeting the Yankton Sioux tribe a baby is born in the tribe so Lewis wraps him in the flag of the United States of America and calls him an American -
Fort Mandan
After getting ready to set up a fort for the Winter, the party decided to set it up near the village of the Mandans and Hidatsas, where nearly 4,500 people lived. -
Another Baby is Born
Sacagawea has given birth to her child, she called him John Babtiste. Lewis helps with her delivery, by making a potion from snake rings. -
Grizzly
Members come across on their first encounter with a Grizzly Bear, they get chased by many and find they are very hard to kill, in all they gain respect for them. -
Finding the Shoshones
With the help of Sacagwea, the party finds the Shoshone village. They have Savagewea as their translator and her brother happend to be the cheif of the tribe. -
Starvation near Weippe
Near Weippe, Idaho the party has traveled through the Bitterroot Mountains and when they come to the other side eleven days later they are in need of food. -
Some Get Sick
In late September many of the men in the Party get sick after eating to much Salmon and Camas roots. -
Trees for Traveling
After getting sick a few day earlier the party learns for the chief Twisted Hair, how to make canoes from wood logs by smoking it out. -
Fort Clatsop
After reaching the shores of the west coast they party sets up another fort for the winter. After the winter they plan to head back home, where they came from almost a full continent away. -
Home Sickness
Through-out the winter it only does not rain/snow 12 days, Lewis starts to feel home-sick as well as many of the other members. -
Blackfeet Attack
In the night eight Blackfeet attack the party trying to steal the horses and weapons, two of them are killed but Lewis still leaves a peace medal around the neck of one of them to show that they wanted peace.
