Introduction
Stephen Harper is Canada’s 22nd prime minister and was first elected into the Canadian House of
Commons on February 6th, 2006 by finally managing to surpass Paul Martin with promises of Strong
economic management including significant tax cuts for working families, an aggressive crackdown on
crime, unprecedented family support and actively reducing Canada’s carbon footprint and is still
presently in office to this day. -

Political Beginnings
Harper first becaome interested in politics early on in his life and started his path to become the Prime Minister by joining the Young Liberals at his Collegiate. Later, he was reccomended by the Calgary University's Preston Manning, and then played a large role in the 1988 election. -

Rise to fame
2003, is the start of his career leading to becoming Prime Minister, members of the Canadian Alliance and Conservative Party voted to become the Conservative Party of Canada, and selected Stephen Harper to lead them, and managed to gain recognition in the 2004 federal election even when Paul Martin first held the vast majority of the votes, However in the end, the Liberals were re-elected with a minority vote. -
2006 Election
Desire the fact that the poll numbers only slightly heightened compared to those of last year, Harpers poll numbers had greatly increased, causing the Liberals to start making the anti-conservative propaganda target Stephen Harper himself, over just the Conservatives as a whole, but failed when the Conservatives won the most seats in the House of commons, but not enough to be the majority. -
Quebec Issue
After avoiding the plitical landmine that is the Post Charlottetown Accord, Harper was forced to reopen the sovereignity debate regarding to Quebec beoing its own nation within Canada. After five days of this event, it was voted off. -
2008 Election
After a five week campaign, Stephen Harper had finally won the trust f the nation, as well as the majority of the seats in the House of Commons and became the 22nd Prime Minister of Canada, However, he managed to win with only 22% of the eligible voters on his side, which was the lowest voting turnout in Canadian history. -

Stepehn Harper, managed to sucessfully lead Canada through one of the worst global recessions in half a century. -

Prorogation
Harper eventually requested that the Governor General would Prorogue the government (The stop of a government body without destroying it) and was effective throughout the winter 2010 olympics and stopped at March 3rd, 2010, the prorogation was mainly about the goverment hiding the issue at hand, which was the Afghan Canadian Detainee issue. -
Economic Issues
In January 2010, the Conservative party managed to be lacking in 36 billion dollars due to debts and other expenses, yet Canada still remained as the least debt-ridden country of all of the first world countires. -
2011 Election
Stephen Harper’s career was threatened by a vote of non-confidence, which was the first time in Canadian history of the senate losing confidence in their prime minister, but Harper managed to pull through after promising to keep economic recovery as his top one priority for long term Canadian prosperity and eventually won the election by having 156 votes and the next election to be scheduled in 2015. -
