In Congress the Compromise was made effective because ofMissouri’s application as a slave state This event impacted History for the next thirty years by helping to keep the Union together until the Kansas- Nebraska act repeals it.

    This event includes the author of the Proviso, David Wilmot. The writing of the document and the Senate blocking the Proviso after debate, the Proviso also inspired politicians to make up their own plans to deal with slavery. This event took place because David Wilmot believed that all Mexican Cession Territories should ban slavery. This event impacted various politicians all around to come up with was to abolish slavery. This also led to the Creation of The Republican party.

Calhoun created a document that covers California being a free state, beginning of fugitive slave act, Texas New-Mexico border dispute and slave trade in Washington DC.The document wa created to solve problems such as runaway slaves, border disputes and popular sovereignty votes in territories to decide whether they are slave or free. It impacted the Fugitive slave act, helped with arguments of whether the area is free or slave.

The act compelled citizens to help in the capture of Escaped/ Freed slaves living in the North as well as denied them the right of any form of citizenship.The event take place to retrieve runaway slaves or slaves living in the north and bring them back to slavery. It impacted slaves rights and inspired abolitionists to act on the growing problem.

    This event includes Harriet Beecher Stowe and the Readers of the Book. She wrote the book due to her encounter with a fugitive slave and the tightening of laws on fugitive slaves. The event took place Cincinnati, where Harriet lived and because of the anger and intolerance rising in Harriet on slaves rights and treatment driving her to inspire others to end slavery as well. It helped abolitionists and other citizens to realize how cruel slavery and slave life is.

    Kansas Nebraska Act / Bleeding Kansas
    This event involves settlers, Stephen A. Douglas, Franklin Pierce, Salmon P. Chase and Charles Sumner. This event led to fighting over disputes for popular sovereignty vote in Kansas - Nebraska.
    The event took place because Douglas wanted Nebraska to be a part of his transcontinental railroad supporting his Illinois constituents, meaning he wanted Nebraska to be slave territory.
    It impacted the Missouri compromise line and fueled the Secession of the south.

    Dred believes he deserved the right to be free is his master died so he and Peter sued for his freedom.It impacted the secession and the many slaves in that time as well as abolitionists, even Abraham Lincoln

    This event involves Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas where they debate over slavery expansion and the threat of the Union in a campaign to get a position in Senate. The event took place because Lincoln was running against Douglas so he could represent in the Senate as a Republican to make sure that slavery doesn't spread to the North as well as keeping the Union together. It impacted Lincoln’s reputation and the Election of 1860 where both men run for President.
  • John Brown's Raid

    This Event involves John Brown, 22 men including 5 blacks/slaves and 3 of his sons at the Armory in Harpers Ferry , Virginia and a Maryland farm near Harpers Ferry these men devised a plan to revolt against the south and anyone that supported slavery by stealing weapons to aid in the plan to arm slaves. John Brown believed slaves should revolt against slave owners and fight back. This event impacts society because after the raid they lived in fear of armed slaves and abolitionists

    This event involves Abraham Lincoln, Stephen A. Douglas, John Bell and John Breckinridge who are candidates speaking about slavery and states rights trying to convince the most people to vote for them. The Election occurred because the people needed a new president so as the candidates competed and earned the votes they needed to win. This event impacted the secession of the south because they knew Abraham didn’t stand for slavery and will favor abolishing it causing the civil war.
  • Southern Secession

    In this event South Carolina and other southern states as well as Abraham Lincoln take part in capture at Fort Sumter first union state seceded then shortly after 11 more in Virginia the first Confederate convention was held. After Lincoln was inaugurated many southern states seceded because that meant they would be under a president that wanted a slave free country. It impacted the Civil war and Battle at Fort Sumter because both are between slave and free states, Confederate and Union.
