Horses were used for various ways during World War 1. They fought on horses using guns and swords. Horses were very useful in the war. They carried wounded soldiers, and they also had special horses called atillery horses that carried weapons. -
Dogs role in WW1
Dogs were a very big part of WW1. They helped find wounded or dying soldiers in help. They helped carry medical equipment to soldiers. Some of them were trained to do a special job, they sit beside a dying soldier and kept them company. -
Pigeons role in WW1
Pigeons were a big help during WW1. They delivered messages back and forth. It took pictures for the soldiers. They say 95% of the messages sent were delivered. -
Baboons role in WW1
Baboons has an excellent eyesight and hearing. The babon warn soldiers of enemy movement. The baboon warned the soldiers by tugging on their clothing. -
Poison gas
They used this as a weapon, they use it to break through both sides of the trenches. Both side began to use gas. To protect against gas attacks troops were required to carry gas masks with them at all times. -
Rats role in WW1
Rats were a big pest in WW1. They fed off of rotting food in the trenches. Some dogs come and catch the rats in the trenches. Rats were big pest and were pointless in the WW1. -
Artillery troops into Trenches
Austrilian soldiers relaoded artillery shells in 1917. Powerful long range artillery fire from guns like this forced for troops to build trenches for protection. -
Machine Gun defend trenches
Machine guns made it difficult to capture enemy trenches. They could fire thousands of bullets per minute. A small team with a machine gun could down hundreds of troops. -

Hes begginning to like it in the army. He says he would rather be home than there. He got a break off duty for 48 hours. Hes in Camp Travis at this time. -

He was assigned to be a driver for the army. He's gotten in the ammunition gain and taken to test already. At this time he was in Camp McArthur. -

Can't go visit his mom because they made an announcment that day that they were gonna be no more passes handed out to make visits. He talked to mom on the phone and was very happy that they talked. At this time he was in Camp McArthur. -

Surprised that Harry Schubert had joined the Army, which was a good friend to the family. Harry had children at home and Henry was jsut so confused. He wondered how he would do this when he has kids at home. At this time he was somwhere in France. -
