The first tracked cholera report was made in India. A medical report was written describing cholera-like diseases. -

Sometime in the 1600s the disease was named 'cholera.' At the time doctors thought the ilness came from bile, so they named it cholera meaning 'ilness from bile.' -

Filippo Pacini discovered that cholera comes from the bacterium V. Cholerae. His discoveries were not made known until 30 years later by Robert Koch. -

Dr. John Snow figured out that cholera had something to do with the water in the area. He was able to protect many people in the European area, but wasn't able to figure out how to protect peole in other areas of the world. -

Cholera spread from Indonesia to Asia, the Middle east, Africa, Italy, Japan, Europe, and the South Pacific. This was the only cholera pandemic that did not start in India
