The Immigration Act of 1965 was established. Senitot Ted Kennedy was the main person who ran this act who over saw it all. This gave prefernce to immigrants with relatives already in the country.

Farmworkers on Strike
Farmworkers went on strike in Delano, California. Soon after, the National Farm Workers Association joined the farmers on the strike with the leaders Lesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. This happened because they wanted better wages than what they already had.

Crusade for Justice
Gonzales founded the crusade for justice in Denver, Colorado, A group that promoted Mexican American nationalism. They also provided legal aid, a theater for enhancing cultural awareness, a spanish - language newspaper, etc. They did this to help end racism and police brutality.

Cuban American Adjustment Act
Congress passed this act allowing Cubans who lived in the U.S. for at least one year to be able to become permanent residents.

Alianza
Tijerina and his followers charged into the Rio Arrisa county courthouse to demand justice. They were fighting against unfair seizure of Mexican American lands. This turned into a battle that left went out of control leaving two police officers wounded.

Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund
MALDEF was founded in San Antonio with the help of the League of Inited Latin American Citiznes and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. This became the first legal fund to pursue the protection of Latino rights.
