Meeting For The First Time
Larry Page and Sergey Brin meet when Sergey is assigned to show the new student Larry around Stanford University. At the first meeting they disagreed about almost everything. -
BackRub and PageRank
In 1996, Sergey joined Larry in his research project called BackRub. This project explored backlinks on webpages that refered back to a given webpage. They developed the Page Rank algorythm, this algorythm produced better results that organized them by popularity and importance. -
Creating Google
They tested the project BackRub on Stanfords servers. Eventually, the serach engine beacme very popular umog the Stanford students. They renamed the search engine Google. The name from the mathmatical term "googol". -
Google Getting Big
By 1998 Google was getting more then 10,000 searches a day. Google was becoming too big for them to run out of their dorm rooms. A founder of Sun Microsystems, Andy Bechtolsheim wrote a $100,000 dollar check to help start the company. On September 7 1998 Google became an official coorpration. -
Popularity Rising
After PC Maginzine reconizied Google as the search engine of choice, Google opened their first office in Palo Alto. Both of them dropped out of Stanford. By 2000 their were 18 million people searching. -

As Google became more popular, foreign lanuage versions of Google.com were released. They added many this to Google.com like Google News and Google Adsense for advertisers. -
Image Search and Search Aplliences
In 2000 Google introduced Google Image Search and introduced. The Google Search Aplliance brought Google search to workplaces and companies. -

In 2004 Google Became a desktop search, this allowed desktop users to have Google. -
Google Maps
Google Maps was created and provided a new way for people to get directions and look at various places around the world. Google Earth was added and increased the amount of places you could look at. -
New Additons
Through Googles second stock offering they raised $4.2 billion. In 2005 Google Maps, Google Earth and IGoogle were released. In 2006 Goggle purchased YouTube. -
Andriod
In 2007 Google annouced Android, the first open platform for rebuilding mobile opperating systems for smartphones. In 2008 Google Crome became available and T-mobile released the first phone built with Andriod OS. -
Nexus
After Google became the first company to launch a website that reviled information it recivies from the government. Also this year, Google released The Nexus One, the first in the Nexus line of mobile devices. -
Google Fiber
in 2012 Google Fiber was introduced. The Google fiber was installed in places such as Kansas City. This helped provide internet access that is about 100 times faster then any other internet. -
Today
Google has a search index that is more then 100 million gigabytes. It has become the most popular and reliable search engine. Google now process over 40,000 searches every second. Youtube has 1 billion active users each month. Google is the most well know search engine.
