The first hot air balloon was made by Joseph Michel and Jaques Etienne Montgolfier. The first air balloon that ever went up was Januray 1st 1783. The first passangers were a sheep, rooster, and a duck. The hot air balloon went up 6,000 feet in the air and travel more than a mile. -
The first manned hot air balloon
The first manned balloon was sent up on Novmber 21, 1783 in Paris. The people that were in the hot air balloon was Jean-Francois Pilatre and Francois Laurent. -
The first gased air balloon
Ten days after the first manned air balloon was sent in the air they launched a air balloon that was using gas. This happend on December 1st, 1783. The physicists that launched it was Jacques Alexander Charles and Nichalos Louis Robert. The balloon was up in the air for two an half hours and cover a span of 25 miles. -
First modern hot air balloon
Paul .E. piloted the first madian hot air balloon and he also developed the propane burner system. The air balloon was able to stay up in the air for 25 mintues and went 3 miles. -
The Atlantic Challenge
The Double Eagle the second was the first balloon to across the Atlantic this happens in 1978. There was many unsuccessful attempts, but it finally happened there was 3 passengers in side of the hot air balloon. The passengers that were in the hot air balloon were Maxi Anderson, Larry Newman, Ben Abruzzi there flight around the Atlantic took them 137 hours. The hot air balloon was a helium filled model. -
The Pacific Challenge
3 years later in 1981 after the Atlantic challenge the Pacific challenge happened. The Double Eagle V launched in Japan November 10th, 1981 it took 84 hours and it landed in Mendocino National Forest, California. The 4 pilots made a new record of 5,678 -
The first flight around the world
In 1999 the first flight around the world. The people that was in the helium/ hot air balloon were Brian Jones and Bertrand Pickard flying the Breitling Orbiter 3. The longest flight covering 29,055 miles and took 19 days, 21 hours, 55 minutes. -
Bud LIght Spirit of Freedom
Steve Fossett launced the hot air balloon in Northam, Western Australia in the seventh and successful attempt to be the first preson to circumanavigate the world it took 14 days, 19 hours, 51 minutes and he landed in the eastern Australian outback. This was the first solo flight around the world.
