    Cristopher Columbus landed in the New World instead of Asia. He planted a Spanish flag on the island.

    Ponce De Leon tried to conquer Florida, but the Naive Americans used poisoned arrows to drive invaders way. Ponce De Leon died from a poisined arrow. In the 1600s spanish border lands extended west from Florida present day Texas, New Mexico. They made religoius converts, but where ever they went they spread disease.

    Spanish people wanted gold. They believed they tale the Indians said that there is a city in North America that has houses and streets made out of gold. The Spanish found a lot of adventure but no gold. At the end the spanish people gave up.

    John Cabot an Italian living in England claimed all of North America. In 1607 English Merchants settled on a swampy island and named it Jamestown after King James I. One year Later John smith took control of Jamestown.

    The founder of Connecticut was Thomas Hooker. Connecticut has seacosts and forested hills. It also has mild summers and cold winters. It has fertile valleys.

    Jaque Cartier was sent to find the Atlantic Coast line of North America. He failed to find West North passage, but he claimed land we know as Canada for France. Champlain made a trading post and named it Quebec. He traded with the Natives. The French had a buisness relationship with the Huron.
