Kublai Khan establishes the Yuan Dynasty. Kublai adopted alot of customs and beliefs from China and the Chinese. Also in 1271, the capital of China moved to Beijing. Kublai ordered the Mongols to create a new alphabet for the language and it closely resembled the Chinese writing. (Bio.com) -

Invading Japan
Between 1274 and 1281, Kublai's armies tried to invade Japan twice. It failed both times. They lost either because of getting destroyed by a storm or by getting crushed by the Japanese because the Mongols did not have good fighting on the sea, and they had bad naval forces. -

Near the end of Kublai's reign, he launched a nval expedition against the Javanese kingdom. This did not work out good for the Mongols. They had withdraw after losing so many times. (Kublai Khan 35) -

Kublai Khan died
Kublai Khan died Febuary 18th, 1294 in Ta-tu. He was 78 when he died. He was burried in a secret place that was reserved for Mongolian rulers only. (Bio.com)
