38th Parrallel
Soviet Union has a complete ocupation over North Korea they divided the country exactly on the 38th parrallel as they had agreeded on the Potsdam Conference. USA took over the other side which was South Korea. -
Viet Minh Establishment
Gained support for their cause in North Vietnam, they announced the esablishment of an independent Vietnam with a Democratic Republic as their new government. France was not happy because they did not want to give up their colony, they decided to fight back. -
North Korea Invades
North Koreans cross the 38th parallel to have a surprise attack on South Korea. Russia supplies North Korea with tecnology such as tanks, airplanes and money so they could take over the peninsula. -
Unites States and the United Nations Condemn North Korea
Soviets were absent from the UN meeting, therefore UN got involved and sent international force to Korea to stop the invasion. The United Nations ended up helping South Korea and United States out. -
North Korea Captures Seoul
UN troops were in the border with China, they felt threatened. Pushed them away into South Korea and captured the capital of Seoul. -
Korean War Armistice
United States, China and the North Korea sign an agreement to end the "UN peace action". War ends and both sides win, which means that North and South Korea remained divided in the 38th parallel. -
US Tropps Enter the Fight
Lyndon Johnson (US president) informed the Congress that North Vietnamese patrol boats had attacked two U.S. destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin. The Congress authorized the president to send U.S. troops to fight in Vietnam which is known as the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. -
Surprise Attack
North Vietnam surprised the U.S. and South Vietnam by arranging an assault with the Viet Cong to attack a lot of cities and towns in South Vietnam. U.S. forces and the South Vietnam armies were able to force the assault known as the Tet Offensive , the attack was a turning point at war. -
Peace With Honor Plan
Richard Nixon became the new president of the United States, he had a new plan to end the US involvement in Vietnam. There was withdrawl of US. troops in Vietnam in order to bring faster end to hostilities. -
Reunification of Vietnam
After South Vietnam finally surrendered to communist North Vietnam in April 30, 1975, Vietnam was reunited as a communist country , the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (which meant that North Korea had won at war).
