The North Crosses the 38th Parallel
The Korean War started when North Korea decide to invade South Korea. They send soldiers to cross the 38th parallel to the city of Seoul and the United States responded to the invasion. The US wanted to help the non-communist South and the United Nations was going to help. -

President Truman sends US troops to help South Korea fight against North Korea and their troops that were invading. They did this because they didn’t want communism to spread for example throughout all of Asia. -

The Amercians United Nations force was able to break North Vietnam's army supply line, and after that, they were able to get back the city of Seoul -
End of War for North and South Korea
All sides who were a part of the war signed an armistice to end the all the deaths that were going on. This was not a formal end to the war, it was just to end the fighting. Korea remained separated at the 38th panel and the separation between both countries is still going on. -

After the Geneva Conference Vietnam also got divided into two, across the 17 degree line. The North side was governed by Ho which they were communism, and the South side had a anti-communist government and the leader was Ngo Dinh Diem. -

After the war, North Korea had nuclear weapons, but were still economically unstable. And South Korea was concentrating on developing their industry and expanding foreign trade. But since North Korea has nuclear weapons the US still keeps troops in South Korea in case they get attacked. -

China an the USSR that were communists were helping out Ho Chi Minh with the war by sending supplies. This weakened the US and Southern Vietnam. Because of this the US forces bombed a lot of land and possible hideouts. -

The president Richard Nixon during the Vietnam War wanted to end the U.S. involvement in the war, to have the military responsibilities handed on to South Vietnam. This was so that South Vietnam could gain power and US would withdrawl and the US did. -

By this year, more than over 185,000 soldeirs were sent to Vietnam to fight. Also they bombed many places that could have been enemy hideouts The U.S was the only other country that was involved with helping the capitalist side. -
End of Vietnam War
The war finished on this day, Vietnam was now again without any division. This happened because the U.S began Vietnamization, which was to draw U.S soldiers out of Vietnam, because people in the homefront began to protest. Northern Vietnam was able to win Southern Vietnam making it the end of the war, and also making all of Vietnam communist.
