On June 26 1996, the Charlotte Hornets drafted Kobe with their 13th overall pick. He was then traded to the Lakers for Vlade Divac as Jerry buss showed a lot of interest in him. -
Early signs of greatness
During the 1997 rookie All-Star game, Kobe put 31 points and the next day he came out and won the dunk contest. It showed a lot about him and his early greatness.
