  • 1973- End of Zahir Shah

    Amir's dad, Baba was born the year of 1933 and "the year Zahir started his 40 year reign". but, this is the year when his reign was over.
  • Amir wins Kite Fingting Competition

    Amir just had won the competition, then he realized that "everything was color and sound, everything was alive and good (66)". This showed how happy Amir was for winning something. This shows a feeling when you win, and it shows how ones feels apprectiated when that person has won an activity.
  • Hassan Gets Violated

    Assef used Hassan to reach Amir's attention and "[Amir] moved his slightly and [he] caught a glimpse of his face. It was a look of a lamb (76)". This showed how Hassan did not do anything to stop Assef, and all he did was follow because that was all Hassan knew what to do. Hassan was loyal and that was one of his morals: to be loyal to one another
  • Hassan And Ali leave Baba And Amir

    Amir tried to make Hassan go into trouble by putting the watch Baba had given him. But when they talked about it, Hassan took the blame and Baba forgave him. But Ali told Baba, " We are leaving, Agha Sahib. Don't make this anymore difficult than it already is, Agha Sahib (106)". This showed Ali gaing power because Baba was begging Ali and Hassan to stay.
  • The Soviet Invasion

    The Soviet troops invaded in December 27, 1979 in Kabul, because, " they had lost their trust with Hafizullah Amin, the Afghan leader."
  • Amir and Baba Arive in Fremont, California

    Baba was excited about going to America. He thought that it would be safer to be there. But later on, " it was living in America that gave him an ulcer (125)". Probably Baba's body was not fast enough to adapt from Middle Eastern weather to American weather.
  • Soviet Air Force Rendered

    They were rendered because of "advanced Stinger antiaircraft missiles supplied by the United States", and this made their air fight end.
  • Soviets finally leave

    I dont know the exact date. The soviets finally left after peace talks witht eh United Nations. They left a country, 'that was not only devastated by the war, but had become a beacon of Islamic extremists from across globe." The Extremists' coup were called "Al Qaeda" whose leader was Osama bin Laden.
  • Competition for Power

    not correct date but year. Power was divided aroung Afghanistan by " competing warlords and individual fiefdoms", but only one group was able to have the control
  • The Taliban Takeover

    was supposed to happened in end of December of 1994. The Taliban started out as a student movement, but then they grew to clean the country after the horrible war. Their leader, Mullah Omar, "had nearly 12,000 followers and was rolling up the warlords to the north and east", then he created a popular movement to help his country.
  • Hassan Dies

    Rahim Kahn had to tell Amir everything about how Hassan's death. He told hime that " [the Taliban] took him to the street, and ordered him to kneel, and shot him in the back of the head (219)". Amir did not want to hear it, and after, he had flashbakcs of Hassan and he in 1974.
  • Amir and Assef fight over Sorhab

    Amir did not remebr everything that happened, but he remembered," [h]is brass knuckles flashing in the afternoon light; how cold they felt with the first few blows and how quickly they warmed with [his] blood (288)". But all of a sudden, sorhab told Assef to stop and shot Assef in the eye with a slingshot and was able to get Amir to safety. This showed a relationship growing between Amir and Sorhab.
  • 9/11 Attack

    Osama bin Laden "attacked the World Trade Center in New York", and after, George W. Bush mad the Taliban give up Laden, but they refused. After, the U.S joined forces who didnt believe in the Taliban rule. At the end of the year, the troops drove the Taliban out of popular Afghan citites.
  • Hamid Karzai takes power

    Hamid Karazai had been a relative to Mohammad Zahir Shah, the "exiled king of Afghanistan", was a chairman of a government that replaced the Taliban, which made him the leader of that counrty.
  • Iraq Commander Becomes Charge of U.S Central Command

    not exact day. General Petraeus was a man who "received much of the credit for the success of the surge", in Afghanistan, and is now in charge and responsible for military operations in Iraq.
  • Obama's Plan

    Obama's speech announced, "to deploy 30,000 additional troops", and to start bringing forces home because the U.S can not afford to obey an open-ended commitment.
  • Obama Admistration Changed its tone

    This is the day where, "the United States will have forces in the country" but the Afghans are worried that the Taliban are going to invade again.
