  • Hassan Gets Raped

    Amir finds Hassan in an ally way blocked by Aseef and the other members of his group. Assef decides to let Hassan keep his kite however He ''put his hands on Hassan's hips and lifted his bare buttocks...Asset dropped his underwear and positioned himself behind Hassan''(Hosseini 75). This is a very important event because Hassan gets raped for not giving over the kite he runs down for Amir. This is also very important because Amir see's all of this happen however just runs away.
  • Amir wins the kite fighting competition

    Amir approached the kite and sliced it and before he could look up to see If he had successfully sliced the kite, Hassan wrapped his arms around Amir and started hopping up and down cheering '' you won, Amir agha! You won''(Hosseini 66)! The importance of this quote is based of of the fact that Amir's victory will spark chances of his father and him having a possible relationship. This victory was also so important because people from all over were to be competing in this years Kite competition.
  • Hassan and Ali leave

    Baba Forgave Hassan for stealing Amir's watch and money but Ali just said, ''I'm sorry our bags are already packed. We have made our decision''(Hosseini 106). This quote reveals how Ali and Hassan are leaving Amir and Baba despite Baba's forgiveness. They feel like they cannot stay after an incident like this one.

This quote reveals Baba and Amir leaving for Jalalabad then to Peshawar in search for safety. They are doing this because of how unsafe Afghanistan has become and are leaving before things get worse.

This quote is significant because it is Baba and Amir living in America after there hard journey through Afghanistan. This also reveals him graduating from high school at the age of twenty due to the difference in schooling between Afghanistan and America.

    Dr. Amani reviewed Baba's CAT scan results and revealed that Baba had ''Oat Cell Carcinoma cancer'' and that the chemotherapy ''would only be palliative''(Hosseini 156). This quote reveals Baba being diagnosed with cancer. This quote demonstrates how if Baba were to undergo treatments of Chemotherapy it wouldn't change the outcome only prolong it.

This quote reveals Amir getting married to his wife Soraya. Marriage being a huge milestone in any one's life is especially important in afghans life.

Baba being such an important figure in not just Amir's life but in many other people's life in Afghanistan makes his death an even greater loss than it already is.

This quote demonstrates Dr.Rosen revealing to Amir and Soraya how they can't have kids. This news is extremely heart breaking to Amir and Soraya who have alway dreamed of one day raising a family together.

    Amir had just finished talking to Rahim Khan when Soraya asked him what the call was about. Amir told Soraya that it was Rahim khan and how he had to go Pakistan because ''Rahim Khan [has been] very sick'' (Hosseini 191). This quote reveals Amir receiving shocking news about Rahim Khans current state. This news is very hard for Amir to hear about Rahim Khan because he was always such an important and supporting person in Amir's life growing up even more so than his own father was.

This quote reveals how much Sohrab dreads the thought of going back to another orphanage by him attempting to kill himself.
