Baba has a affair with Sanaubar, impregnating her with Hassan. Hassan Is born shortly after Amir on December 1963. -
The lighter of the flame
Amir and Hassan encounter the neighborhood bully, Assef. Assef confronts them to " rid Afghanistan of all the dirty, Kasseef Hazara's." Hassan protects himself and Amir with his slingshot. Assef leaves promising them revenge. -
Plot
Hassan and Amir, age 12 enter the kite running contest held every year in Kabul during the winter. They win the contest, Hassan ran alone after the last kite. Hassan ends up in an alley way with the kite by his side surrounded by Assef and his accomplices. Amir peeked through a crumbling mud wall. Assef revenge was seeked upon Hassan. He raped him while Kamal and Wali held him down, Hassan didn't struggle. -
The move
After a few months Hassan tells his father and they move out of Baba's house. Ali believes Amir is a fractured and dangerous boy to Hassan. -
The move part 2
Amir and Baba flee to Peshawar from the division of society. The they moved to America where Baba hustled to supply for Amir. Amir meets Soraya which he later marries, on the day after Baba asked for General Taheri's respect Baba dies happily. -
Letter
Amir recieves a letter from Rahim Khan that will change him forever. -
Amir's redemption
Amir leaves to Pakistan to speak with Rahim khan. Rahim khan reveals a letter from Hassan to him, telling him about his life after he and ali left them. Rahim Khan tells him he has to go get Hassan's son, Shorab, he is at an orphanage at Afghanistan. Amir goes thorugh a lot on the search for Shorab. He ends up meeting his childhood enemy, Assef. Assef beats Amir, but Sohrab interfere's and saves him by shooting him with a brass ball from the slingshot. -
Amir's Recovery
Amir was healed even though he was extremely hurt by Assef. Assef had his vengeance and Amir got his redemption. They both ended up getting what they deserved. Amir's only way to take Shorab home is to tkae him back to an orphange. Shorab freaks out and cries a lot. When Amir wakes up after soothing Sohrab he finds him cut up in the tub, he tried to commit suicide. -
New life
Soraya found a way to bring Sohrab home without taking him to another orphanage. Amir left Sohrab speechless for a long time. Afghan New years is present and Amir, Sohrab, and Soraya are at a park enjoying themselves with other Afghans. A few kites were in the air and Amir bought one for him and Sohrab to fly. That was when Amir saw the life re-emerging in Sohrab, from a tiny smile.
