Lord Monteagle receives a warning letter

This letter told him not to go to the Parliament on the 5th of November, as there was going to be a "sudden blow". Guy Fawke's Gunpower Plot
The Gunpowder Plot (short)James's strong Pretestant beliefs resulted in a strong dislike of Catholic and Puritain beliefs. A group of Catholics gathered together in a plan to blow up the Parliament and kill James I. Catholics filled the Parliament cellar with gunpowder, and Guy Fawkes, an explosive expert, attempted to blow it up. A forewarned James, sent guards to check the cellar. He was caught during the act, imprisoned, and executed. -
