First convict timber cutters and their overseers set up camp on the banks of Lane Cove River at Fiddens Wharf. Bluegums and blackbutt were logged and dragged along tracks called Government Rd (now Beaumont Rd) and Wharf Rd -

Governor Lachlan Macquarie issued 5 land grants including 40 acres to Joseph Fidden. 20 acres of each grant were to be cleared for cultivation -

Sydney Harbour Bridge opened – led to a high increase in population along the North Shore -

Lane Cove National Park declared – 2000 properties adjoin the park. The park is in a narrow valley and is under threat from stormwater runoff, weed infestations and land encroachments
