This was the CDP-101, which was made by Sony. It was an important event as it shows how music was desired by the public, as they wanted to listen to artists in their own homes, in a simple way. By 1988, CDs had outsold records. -
World Wide Web invented.
It was invented by Tim Berners-Lee, an English computer scientist who worked at CERN. He had the idea of a system where information can be shared and distributed globally. He submitted this proposal in a paper called 'Information Management: A Proposal.' The world's first website, http://info.cern.ch, was then launched on 6 August 1991. -
Google was founded.
The search engine’s founding was a really important event in the history of technology. The two founders were Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google is now the most used search engine, and is therefore an important part of technology. -
First IPod
The first IPod was released in 2001, and it was a really significant moment. It was a huge event in history, in a world where technology was very different to the way it is today. It also was the pivotal point of which apple now revolves around. -
Facebook founded.
The primary figure in this event was Mark Zuckerberg, although there is a lot of controversy concerning this issue. Zuckerberg has been very successful out of this event however, and is worth over an estimated $33 billion. Facebook is a very popular website, and had an estimated 1.11 billion users, as of March 2013. -
Youtube founded.
Its trio of founders were Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, and the website itself is one of the most important to ever be created. It allows users to watch, share and distribute independent videos and documentaries. Therefore, videos that would have not been popularised otherwise are able to be viewed by people globally. Crazes such as Vines or The Harlem Shake may have never otherwise been created. -
Twitter Founded.
This social media website was founded by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone and Noah Glass. It allows people to write ‘tweets’ of up to 140 characters, which people from around the world can then view. It has become important in the modern world, as people can tweet about television programmes, music videos etc.
