Key events from chapters 19+20

  • The third estate declares that it is now the National Assembly

    The Third estate, or the middle to low class, separates from the 1st and second estate because they feel that they support the people's beliefs. This was a major step towards the peoples opinions being voiced.
  • The Fall of the Bastille

    Mobs grew into a large force that then took over the kings bastille, and the fall of the prison became a symbol of triumph over despotism and signified the end of the authority of Louis XVI.
  • The Assembly adoptes The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen.

    The assembly passes this document, further giveing equality to all.
  • Execuation of Louis XVI.

    The execution of the king symbolized the temporary end of monarchy in France because the people wanted their voices heard
  • The execution of Marie Antoinette

    Marie Antoinette was the wife od King Loius, and she was convicted of treason. Her death meant the end of monarchy in France.
  • France adopts a new constiution.

    France adopted a new constitution that gave the people more equality. This constitutionsupportedmore freedom for all.

    ( Disregard the date) Napolean's eventual rise to monarchy is an example of how much France relies on a single, powerfull ruler.
  • Greek nationalists revolted against Turkish rule.

    This event demonstrated how useless the government is against stopping the power of the people.
  • Austrian Emporor promises reform

    After a large crowd of people gather outside of the Austrian emporor's home, and the Austrian emporor promises reform
  • Police open fire on crowd in Berlin

    This event caused the Prussian king Fredrick William to issue his own constitution for Prussia.
  • Attempt to unify Germany

    Delegates from the German states met in Frankfurt as a national parliment. Altough it was a failure, this showed the people of Germany that their delegates wished to be united
  • Parliment issued a constitution for Germany

    This constitution helped inspire other countries to allow equality throughout European society.
  • The reign of Terror

    This is when the power shifted to Robespierre, and was an important reason why France would never return to the monarchy.
  • Workers Riot in Berlin

    As a consequence to the workers' attitude, the middle class draws closer to the ruling class.
  • Napoleon leads troops into Russia

    Napolean lead his troops into Russia in summer but he did not plan for winter so his troops starved. This would weaken his forces and eventually cause him to lose the war.
