Canadian soldiers arrive in Britain
The first batch of the Canadian army arrived in England sometime in December. Joining the war a week later than Britain to state their independence. -
Canada declares war on Italy
Canada had a strong peace and friendship treaty with the France and the United Kingdom at the time, so when Italy declared war on both of them, Canada declared war on Italy in retaliation. -
Declaration of drafting
It's September 15th, 1940 when the Canadian government declares the drafting of males for military service. -
Infantry Division begins training for operation jubilee
Canada begins training with the British in England for two months on the the Isle of Wight preparing themselves for their raid on the Germans. -
Disaster hit Operation Jubilee
Despite the two months of tanning, the operation was not a success by any means - there was a total of 3,367 casualties and the battle was lost. -
Operation Husky begins
The goal of Operation Husky was to take the island of Sicily from Italy and Germany, The battle was going to be fought on land, water, and in the air. -
Operation Husky is a success
With 478,000 Allied troops on Sicily the battle was fought with ease. After taking control of the key airfields across the island and the Primsole bridge the battle became almost to easy. The US 3rd Division gives the official "all clear" from their position in Messina. Operation Husky is a success and Sicily is firmly in Allied hands. -
D-Day begins
6,000 naval vessels makes their way towards two different France beaches, Gold and Juno. At approximately 7:25AM, forces of the British and Canadian armies wade ashore at beaches codenamed Gold and Juno. -
D-Day is over
The British and Canadian armies make the prefect team, taking over Gold beach with ease. Juno beach didn't go quite as planned because of the heavy seas and underwater obstacles taking them off course to where they wanted to go.
Most of the Canadians were killed when they hit shore by the Germans. But despite this, the Canadians still managed to take control of Bernieres, and thus winning the battle. -
Operation Goodwood against Caen
Operation Goodwood is put into play on July the 18th, 1944, with the main goal of taking over Caen, and then taking control of Falaise. The battle is won, and Paris is
liberated. -
Battle of the Scheldt in Holland
The battle in Holland is now over, with the Germans being defeated with the help of a large Canadian participation. -
V-E Day
It's a victory in Europe for the Allies with the Germans no longer a threat anymore. Allies won the battle against Germany!The next focus is on Japan and defeating them, which will be lead by the U.S. -
Canada joins the United Nations
Canada joins the United Nations along with 50 other countires. The signing took place in San Francisco. -
Canadian troops enter Germany
With German now being divided into four areas that are controlled by the Allies, Canada enters as one of the occupying forces. -
World War II is over
World War II is now over thanks to the U.S defeating the Japanese. Surrender ceremonies take place onboard Battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
