    The FF sailed from Portsmouth England in May 1787 to Port Jackson, Australia, also known as Terra Australis. The commander of the FF was Arthur Phillip. The FF contained 11 Ships (2 naval ships, 6 convict ships and 3 store ships) and 722 convicts and 17 child convicts. On the 5th of July 1787 the first of the First Fleet passed the equator.     The First Fleet B
    the dryness of the soil they found as Captain Cook had passed there 18 years earlier and found the conditions to be much better with good soil and plenty of water. Captain Cook had arrived after the wet season, whereas the First Fleet had arrived during a drought season so the First Fleet sailed up to Port Jackson Sydney for better conditions and to ‘civilise’ Australia.

    The Second Fleet arrived in 1789.

    The Guardian was a gunship converted to transport convicts. It struck ice and turned around but was wrecked on the southern African coast.
    Sometimes the Lady Juliana is not counted as being in the Second Fleet because it sailed before the rest of the fleet.

    On arriving in Sydney Cove, If the convicts were really sick and weren’t able to move, they were thrown overboard. Most sick convicts died upon arriving in Australia.

    The Second Fleet consisted of six ships. One Royal Navy escort, four convict ships and a supply ship.

    The Gold Rush consisted of mainly ex-convicts, Polish and Dutch soldiers, English doctors and Chinese labourers. These were some of the people that got their riches off the Gold Rush. The conditions that the miners experienced while fossicking for gold were harsh. These extreme conditions included hot, dusty, cold, damp, flies and mud. As the miners were experiencing these conditions they occasional found gold. In New South Wales the gold rush was focussed around mainly around Summerhill NSW

    around mainly Summerhill Creek. Gold was officially discovered at Summerhill Creek by Edward Hargraves on the 12 feb 1851. When miners discovered gold they were forced to sell it to the traders that had set up around the gold fields. Often these prices were extremely unfair but the prospectors had to accept these prices as if they were to take their gold to official gold traders they would risk loosing their gold on the way because of bushrangers or exposing their gold finds to other miners.

    On the 3 December 1854 the gold miners fought againest the UK aurthority who supervisyed the gold field and were in charge of the mining liensers.On October 1854 an angry mob burt down Bently's hotel the place where a gold miner had been murdered 1 out of the angry mob was arristed and other 3 were seen as being over angry. In 1851 at least 50 police most being ex convicts or guards and soon people more people were becoming more and more angry and doing more crime being needing more police.

Australia's conlones also thought that a nation would be stronger than indervisoal colonies
