    soldier sneezing and shedding tears. Later, he went up and down the trenches for 2 to 3 miles. And stopped by 2 dressing stations. It seemed very quiet and he could see that it had blown up in part of the trenches earlier in the a.m. They didn’t have any undamaged building Armentieres.

    At the concentration camp there were many “civies” but no one is sick. Later, Grover get called to RR station. He found a woman in labor and couldn't get a room for her in the house. So, he decided to put her on the bell tent, (a round, two man tent about 20 feet in diameter) bags and delivered before anyone see it. They did not have time to wait for soap and water before the delivery. Later the baby boy, Blanche Francois, was born at 2:15 p.m.

    Early in the morning,they were all getting ready for breakfast when a H.V. (High velocity shell) hit their house. Which killed 6 men and others, no one was hurt. Officers were all covered by dust and glass. Grover went into a funk holes in a field, a shallow dugout or shelter. It was very cold in the holes and there is nothing to eat but bully beef and tea, that was the only food they had and they were very hungry.

Several Frenchmen were injured,the Germans bombed the place continually.Later, we were ordered to move out tomorrow to join our division on the Somme. Around the p.m. 2 hun planes came out from the sky and sent two of our balloons down in flames. At noon we brought down one of their planes. And another was brought down near our line,but failed.
