Sugar Act of 1764
The Sugar Act of 1764 was a tax the Bristish decided was necessary to use on the colonists. The Bristish charged a tax on all foreign sugars and molasses. -
Stamp Act 1765
The Stamp Act of 1765 was another tax created by the British.This tax was a charge placed on all printed materials. This includes advertisments, diplomas, legal documents and more. In order to make sure all colonists followed the rules, the British would place a stamp on all printed documents. -

The Quatering Act was where British parliament forced the colonists to aid to the Bristish troops. They had to provide them with food, water, shelter, and transporation. -

The Stamp Act Congress was the first congress of the American colonies. They gathered in New York City and the representatives discussed a protest against the Bristish Stamp Act taxation. -
Declaratory Act 1766
The Declaratory Act 1766 stated the repeal of the Stamp Act. Bristish parliament decided that because the protests were hurting British trade, The Parliament used the act as a "fair way". The law stated that the Parliament's authority way now the same in Britain and America. -
Townshend Acts 1767
The Townshend Acts of 1767 was another tax. It was started by Charles Townshend who was a part of the English Parliament.The tax was put on things like imports of glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. -
Boston Massacre 1770
The Boston Massacre of 1770 started with an incident where the Bristish troops killed 5 civilians. The people got very angry and formed a crowd to fight with the British troops. -
Tea Act 1773
Tea Act of 1773 was the last straw before the Revolutionary War. British parliament shipped over many pounds of tea to the colonies. Some colonies shipped it back, some let it rot, but in Boston, it was a whole different story. They would not allow it to be unpacked so the dumped all the tea in to the harbor. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a raid on British ships. The colonists were dressed as Indians and went on to the ships. In order to protest, they threw the tea over the side of the ships. -

The Coercive Acts of 1774 were acts made by the British against the Boston colonists for dumping the tea in to the harbor. -
Quebec Act 1774
The Quebec Act of 1774 was an act passed by British parliament that replaced Canada's temorary government and it gave the Frech Canadiens full religious freedom. -
1st Continental Congress
1st Continental Congress was 52 delegates from 12 colonies (no Georgia) who met in Philadelphia. They would discuss the acts and it was a secret from Great Britain since they didn't want them to know the colonies were united. -
Battles of Lexington/Concord
The Battles of Lexington/Concord was where the first shot between the Bristish and American troops. No one knows who fired the first shot but it is now called "The Shot Heard Round the World". -
Olive Branch Petition
Olive Branch Petition was drafted by John Dickinson. It was an attempt to show loyalty to King George and Britain but King George refused the petition. -

The 2nd Continental Congress was another meeting with delegates but this time Georgia was involved.The Revolutionary War had started and they were adopting freedom. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was a document written by the Second Continental Congress. The document stated the 13 colonies freedom from Great Britain.
