Daniel's Father's Shop is Looted

Daniel is looking at this picture and remembering how his father's shop was ruined by the Nazi's. They wrote Jew in yellow on the window and placed a gaurd by the shop since he was Jewish

Daniel Changes Schools

Daniel is forced to change to a Jewish school. He was bullied so bad by the German kids at the public school alongside his friends he had to leave.

Daniel Is Given a ID Card

Daniel and all the other Jews were given ID cards stamped with a red J to further humiliate and separate them. The Germans didn't need them, if the Jews were caught without them they would be imprisoned or killed.

Uncle Peter Is Killed

Daniel and his family receive a small parcel in the mail. They see it's from Uncle Peter and get excited but soon when open it realize what it is. The Germans sent them his ashes to hurt them even more.

Daniel Is Sent To Lodz

Daniel and his family are sent from Frankfurt to Lodz a ghetto. These were the worst parts of town which only contained the Jews. They lived in cramped and horrible conditions.

Daniel Meets Rosa

Daniel meets a girl named Rosa. She was part of a small youth group/resistance in Lodz. Daniel and Rosa are friends and then they like each other.

Erika Goes On A Soup Strike

Erika and Rosa realize that the kitchen workers at the sewing factory they work at are stealing soup supplies for themselves. They get the workers to not eat until they get the food. The Germans see that this slows down production so they make the cooks use all the ingredients.

Daniel Gets Sent To Auschwitz

Daniel and his family are sent to Auschwitz, a Nazi death camp, he has to leave Rosa behind. His mother is killed when Daniel and his father arrive and they though Erika was also killed but they later find that she wasn't.

Daniel Sees Erika

Daniel while on a march sees Erika on the side of the road playing a violin. She didn't see him though, he decided to write her a note to tell her he's alive. He writes to her with oil on a cloth "D&F Alive" and throws it to her when no one is looking

Adam Is Killed

Adam is part of the resistance inside Auschwitz. He didn't want to be killed before he could make a difference. he grabbed a Nazi's gun and shot two guards killing one before he was killed.

Daniel Is Freed

Daniel and his father wait by the gate with guns to kill the guards, they shoot them and the Jews take over they put the guards ad their families in the barracks and waited for the Americans and they were finally freed after 8 years of killing and torture by the Nazis.
