He is considered one of the best thinkers in politics known as the ¨grandfather of science¨ He was taught by the philospher known as plato and then opened up in own school in Lyceum Athens. He belived in a geocentric universe which is that all planets are perfect spheres and earth is not. Even though he is wrong he is so respected for his answers because it was believed for such a long time. -

Reflecting vs. Refracting
The difference between the reflecting vs. Refracting is that is how they manipulate the incoming light in order to magnify the image. A refracting telescope uses different lenses that focus on the light as it moves towards the other end of the telescope. A reflecting telescope has a mirror and the light bounces off of the mirror to show an image. -
Giovanni Cassini
Giovanni Cassini was a Italian mathematician and astronomer that lived from 1625- 1712. He lived in France and discovered some of Saturn's moons and that the rings around Saturn are two separate rings. As well as how long it takes Jupiter to make one full rotation. He also measured the distance between mars. -

Sir Isaac Newton was a mathematician, Astronomer, author, and physicist that lived from 1643-1724. He is famous for discovering the laws of motion. He is known as one of the most influential scientists ever. He discovered the physics of gravity when an apple fell on his head. He invented the reflecting telescope which uses mirrors to reflect light and form an image. -
william Herschel
William Herschel was a British astronomer and composer that lived from 1738-1822. William discovered Uranus and two of its moons. Uranus is the seventh planet away from the sun. He also discovered the first shaped description of our milky way using a telescope. He discovered that Mars atmosphere is very thin. The discovery of satellite Mimas. he discovered double stars. -
Percival Lowell
Percival Lowell lived from 1855 through 1916. He was an american businessman, author, mathematician, and astronomer. He predicted that there was a planet behind Neptune. He built a private observatory in Flagstaff Arizona to study Mars. In this observatory they discovered Pluto here. during the discovery of Mars they found that canals which is another clue that may prove that there is life on Mars. -

Ejnar Hertzsprung lived from 1873 through 1967. He was a Danish chemist and astronomer. He classified different types of stars by their different colors and their absolute brightness. He created the Luminosity Scale of Cepheid variable stars. This is a tool for the measurement of intergalactic distances. -

Albert Einstein lived from 1879 through 1955. He is known as one of the most influential of the 20th century. His work of everything he had done in his life led to many advancements in our world. He invented the theory of relativity. which is one of the two pillars in modern physics. He invented photons which are is a group of electromagnetic energy. It makes up all of the light. They interact with matter. At first most scientists did not believe him. -

He is known as the father of Radio astronomy.Radio astronomy is the study of the radio waves from stars and galaxies. Radio waves are naturally formed from lightning and astronomical objects. -
