    The Beginning
Charles Darwin is one of the most well known philosophers known for his great contributions of the theory of evolution. • Galapagos Islands

    Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos Islands played a big part in Darwin's theory and curiosity. The Galapagos Islands are secluded islands off the west coast of South America. Charles Darwin believed that life spawned naturally. But once he got to the islands that seemed to change. He questioned if life had come to the islands first or if life naturally presented itself. Darwin said "Most of the organic productions are aboriginal creations, found nowhere else."

    Galapagos Islands Part 2
Darwin found that the animals on the islands were not like any other animals in the Americas. He realized that they had transformed or took part in evolution if you will, once migrating to the island. Each animal of the Galapagos Islands were different. Each animals had changed based on their environment. Sulloway, Frank. "Evolution of Charles Darwin". Smithsonian, Dec 2005. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/the-

  • Darwin and Philosophy

    Darwin and Philosophy
Along with Darwin's many accomplishments, he contributed things to philosophy. Such as Darwinism, or natural selection, is a topic that had many people talking. Darwin believed that only the strongest or most fit species will survive. In the world of philosophy it is often hard for people to believe or feel like the theory is correct. But it has been a theory that has been more accepted. For example, species that tend to get more ill or cannot see are less likely to survive without assistance.

    Darwin and Philosophy Part 2
Darwin believed that "survival of the fittest" would result in the strongest species taking over, overtime. As Darwin mentioned "Change on the earth is the result of both, the first step being dominated by randomness, the second by necessity." Mayr, Ernst. "Darwin's Influence on Modern Thought." Scientific
