The first voyage around the world begins with five ships and get's reduced to two. After a battle in the Philippines they had limited crew and only three ships left. They abandoned, Concepcion, and burned it. The Trinidad, and Victoria were the two ships to bring the rest of the crew home. There were only eighteen survivors when they got back to Seville. -

Copernicus was still working on De revolutionibus orbium coelestium when in 1539 Georg Joachim Rheticus, a mathematician arrived. A close ally of Martin Luther, had arranged for Rheticus to visit several astronomers and study with them. Rheticus then became Copernicus' pupil, he also presured Copernicus which in turn made Copernicus give his book over to Rheticus to be published. It is speculated that Copernicus did not want his book to be published. -

A Dutch Explorer Discoveres Australia
There is not an explorer that exactly "found Australia", through time different people came by the coast for different reasons. The Dutch East India Company was a trading company that traded extensively with parts that now form Indonesia. Through time people from this company and other Dutch exploration/trade ships may have seen this continent, although there is still no known discoverer, there are speculations on who "discovered" it first though. -
Galileo Builds His First Telescope
Galileo Galilei was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher. Based only on uncertain descriptions of Hans's first practical telescope Galileo went to build his own telescope. He made a version with 3x magnification, then went on to improve and gave it 30x magnification. These telescopes were profitable to Galileo as he could sell them to Merchants who found them useful at sea and as items of trade. -
Why did I choose these items as the top fifteen?
I choose these events for many different reasons. The main reason being that these events are the big events that had drastic influences on history. One event is the Black Plague which hurt the European population greatly in decreasing numbers and leaving many empires vulnerable. Another is small pox spreading to the Americas, which took out many Native Americans, and therefore destroyed much resistance to the Europeans and quite possibly the reason to why America is where it is today.
