The PS2 was originally released in japan on march 4, 2000, and was released around the world later that year. It is currently the best selling video game console of all time with over 155 million units worldwide. -
Halo is released
The original Halo, Halo:Combat Evolved, was released. It was released to Microsoft's Xbox game console, and was the first of a long lasting series of halo games, exclusive to Xbox. Halo is a FPS game that takes place in a science fiction world. Halo has since become a multi-billion dollar franchise, and is one of the most well know games. -
Facebook is created
Mark Zuckerburg and some of his roommates from collage created Facebook in February 2004. It was originally meant to connect people around the university, and gradually expanded from there. Today, over 2.8 billion people use Facebook at least monthly. -
YouTube is released
YouTube was official released in December 2005, but had a beta version out since May. After steadily gaining popularity, when it was finally released, YouTube had over 2,000,000 video views a day. -
PS3 is released
The PS3 was released in japan first, then the other countries slightly later. It competed mainly with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii. It sold over 87 million units to date, becoming one of the best selling game consoles. -

The Wii was released by Nintendo in 2006, and was designed to reach a broader audience with its game. It had sold over 101 million units by 2013, and is the fourth best selling console of all time. -
Minecraft is released
Minecraft is a sandbox game that takes place in a 3D world made of blocks. Since its release, it has constantly been updated and improved. Instead of dying out, Minecraft gained popularity over time, and by the time the game was 9 years old in 2020, it had over 400 million downloads. This made it one of the best selling games of all time. -
The Xbox one is released
Microsoft's Xbox one was released in 2013 competing with Sony's PS4. It came with a more powerful system then the previous Xbox, and sold over 50 million consoles to date. -
Destiny is released
Destiny was released in September 9, 2014 and PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox one. It is a science fiction story based FPS game that contains both PvP and PvE. It is said to be one of the greatest video games made of all time, and in its first five days made US$325 million at retail. This made it the biggest new franchise launch of all time. -
Ark: Survival Evolved
Ark survival is a unique survival based FPS game where you play as a survivor in a science fiction prehistoric era, on a big 48 km2 map of land and ocean. It can be played as PvE, or PvP. You tame dinosaurs and build deference to protect your base, and fight against enemy players in full tribe battles on an always running real time server. It was first released on PC as early access, and later on consoles. The next ark, Ark II is scheduled to come out in 2022. -
Rainbow Six Siege is released
Rainbow Six Siege, or r6 is an FPS video game and was released in 2015 based on the book by Tom Clancy. It is a five vs five offence defense based game, and has currently over 55 million registered players. -
Apex Legends is released
Apex legends is a free to play battle royale game that was developed by Respawn and EA. It came out in 2019, and has over 100 million active players to date.
