Writed by the archbishop of Canterbury with the objective of making peace between the King John I and the barons of the north of England, this letter was written and delivered by John I to them with the intention of ending the conflict. -

John Lackland died on 19 October 1216 at the age of 49, and was buried in Worcester cathedral. He died of a worsening illness and by the time he arrived at Newark castle he could not travel any further.
