THE LAST LIEUTENANT
He was a lieutenant in PT-109 (a Patrol Torpedo boat) in the Pacific Ocean during the Second World War. The PT-109 was impacted by a Japanese destroyer, which split the boat in two and caused an explosion. The crew swam to an island and survived until rescued. This feat gave him popularity and with it he began his political career. -
STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS
Kennedy represented the state of Massachusetts as a member of the House of Representatives from 1947 to 1953. -
SENATOR
He was a senator until he was president in 1961. -
HIS CHOICE
He was chosen president and he turned the first youngest president of his country after Theodore Roosevelt. -
PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
With 43 years, was the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party in 1960, defeated Richard Nixon in one of presidential votes more adjusted. Kennedy had been the last person to be elected to the position of senator. He has also been the only Catholic president of the United States, as well as the only one born during the First World War and also the first one born in the 20th century. -
BAY OF PIGS INVASION
It was a military operation when Cuban troops (supported by the United States) encroach Cuba to try to create a beach head, form a provisional government and search for the support of the Organization of American States and the recognition of the international community. -
CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS
Conflict between the United States, the Soviet Union and Cuba. It was one of the biggest crisis. -
DEATH
He was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.
