  • Riots over food

    Riots over food
    Riots over the scarcity of food broke out on the 8th of February. Many peasants marched their way to St Petersberg to protest against the lack of food and they thought Tsar Nicholas II would not be disappointed in seeing them. However, the Tsar sent his army soldiers out to kill all those protesting. The reason food was so scarce was because the food was being sent to the troops fighting in WW1. However, this angered peasant even more because Russia was doing very badly in the war.
  • Lenin's return

    On April 3rd, Lenin returned to Russia with the help of the German government. He then makes a speech at Finland station which then forms a basis of the April theses.
  • The Russian forces loses to the Austro Hungarians

    Kerensky orders the Russian forces to attack the Austro Hungarians and this leads to a huge offensive attack in Galicia. However, the Russians fails and this results in 400,000 Russians troops in getting injured.
  • The July days

    The July days were a number of revolts that happened in Petrograd. Workers and soldiers and peasants revolt because they want either the Soviets or the Bolsheviks to take over over Russia.
  • Strikes

    Strikes become more frequent and as many as 700,000 railway strikers go on strike. This causes many Bolsheviks to be released from prison
  • The October revolution

    The October revolution begins. The Bolshevik Central Committee announces that an armed up rise is inevitable so the Petrograd Soviet creates the MRC
  • Fisrt major revolt in the October revolution

    Bolsheviks lead an up rise in a city named Tallinn located in Estonia.
  • Bolsheviks seize power

    Lenin finally declares that the Bolsheviks have declared power. He calls for preparations for a Soviet Government
  • End of October revolution

    After 18 hours the Bolsheviks seized power, Lenin issues 2 decrees. The Decree of land and peace which calls for the immediate ceasefire and treaty.
  • Bolsheviks red guards take control of Moscow

    After a long and hard fought battle, the Bolshevik Red Guards take control of Moscow
