Jim Thorpe was born May 28, 1888 to Hiram and Charlotte Thorpe,in the Indian Territory which is present day Oaklahoma. (PRAGUE, OK). His backgrouund heritaages include French, Irsish, Sac Indian and Fox Indian. -
childhood
Since Jim lived in Indian territory he was given a indian name which wa Wa-Tho-Huk which meant "Bright Path".As a child Jim and his twin brother lived on a ranch. Him and his brother were bestfriends, but trragedy struck when his brother died at age 9. this cause Jim to run away from home. -
education
His father sent him to attend Haskell Indian National University in Lawrence, Kansas. -

Thorpe went to Carlisle Indian Industrial School after his father died of poisoning. -
college
There he participated in Track and Fiels, Football, Baseball and Lacrosse. His first love was football.Legendary coach Pop Warner didn't want jim to play football. He displayed his wonderful football abilities. He played running back, defensive back, punter, and place kicker for the Indians. -
career
they had a rcord of 11-1,and were champions in 1912 -
legend
Track and field made him a legend. in 1912 Olympic Games in Sweden he won the decathlon and the pentathlon.medals were taken because a team payed him to paly baseball. -
achievements
in 1915 he played for the Canton Bulldogs, Cleaveland Indians, Ooranf=g Indians, Rock Island Independents, New York Giants, and th Chicago Cardinals. Led the Bulldogs to championships in 1916. 1917, and 1919. inducted to NFL Hall of Fame in 1963. In Baseball, he played 289 career games. He playeed for the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Braves. -
the end
jim Thorpe died of a heart attack. HIs body was not laid to rest until 1957, due to a fight over his remains.
