His inaguration occured in New York City in the presence of his Vice President John Adams. His two terms and his famous quote "So god help me" set a precedent that has never been questioned in the history of America. -
John Adams is elected President
John Adams was elected President with his Vice President being Thomas Jefferson. While John Adams was a Federalist his Vice President was a Democratic Republican causing much disagrement between the two. On top of this John Adams passed the Alien and Sedition acts breaching the Bill Of Rights. -
Jay's Treaty
Jay's Treaty was signed by the British that led Britian to stop seizing U.S. cargo. Origionally adressing problems that America had with England Jay's Treaty only succeded in getting England to stop seizing AMerican cargo and ships. -
The XYZ affair
The cause of the "XYZ" affair was French dignitaries demanding that they be paid by America. Not only did the country stay neutral we sent the dignitaries back to France refusing to pay any money to the French. -

Napoleon Bonaparte, needing money to wagehis wars sold the whole of their American territory to the Americans. America paid 15 million to buy the territory. Origionally the Americans only wanted the port of New Orleans so they could keep shipping their goods into the heart of the Americas. -
The Lewis and Clark expedition
This expedition was to explore the newely purchased Lousiana territory. Sacagawea was their guide through the Native American territory that America now owned she was responsible for translating for the explorers as well as guiding them through the dangerous territory. They traveled through the Appalachian Mountains, The Great Plains, The Pacific Northwest, The Rocky Mountains and The Gulf Coast. -
The Embargo act
This act forbade American ships from sailing to foreign ports. Congress passed this law to try and affect France and Britian. This backfired on America because many Americans lost vital items frmthe Embargo. -

James Madison is elected as the 4th President of the United States. His last words were "I always talk better lying down." -

The American forces were led by Governor William Henry Harrison. While their Native American enemies were led by Tenskwatawa. The result of the battle was another American victory against the Native Americans. -

The two major causes of the war was that Great Britian trying to restrict American trade and they impressed their seamen. Thomas Jefferson was the President at the time of the war's outbreak. -
The Battle of New Orleans; Treaty of Ghent signed
The Americans were led by Major General Andrew Jackson. The effects of the war were not territorial but the war did solve many of the problems faced by the Americans from the British. This war was important due to the simple fact that it was the second war with Britian that has occured in history and the fat that this war ended many of the problems faced by the Americns.
