13th amendment
This amendment got rid of slavery and freed the blacks. Was a huge time for the black race and gave them life as a citizen. the amendment was passed by Abraham Lincoln and was a sign of new beginnings in the U.S. -

These codes were used after the civil war to refuse freedom of blacks. They allowed them to not be able to work in an economy due to low debt and income. -

It Gave other races equal rights as whites, the phrase different but equal came around because of this. It also gave equal protection to all races. -

Was Made to give equal voting rights to blacks. Got rid of poll taxes and literacy test so that blacks were allowed to vote free of charge. -

Plessy v. Ferguson
This case gave the idea of "Separate but equal".
Blacks were being treated separate and were given their own restrooms, housing areas, drinking fountains and even trains. But even though there were things for white and for colored, the whites were given what seemed like luxury compared to what was given to the colored. -

Civil disobedience was mainly used during the civil rights act because lots of blacks would go against the government so they would be allowed qual rights amongst all. -
19th amendment
This amendment allows anyone of any race or sex can vote as long as they are a citizen. This mainly helped with woman being able to vote during the woman' suffrage. -
20th amendment
This amendment focused around congress mainly, allowing the presidents term to end at noon on January 20th. It also went on talking about the congress meeting up at least once a year on the 3rd day of January unless a new day is made. -

This was a service created to allow housing for all. Lends out loans to help with support for a good living in the house. -
sharecropping
This was a farming method that allows a tenant to use the land. In return the owner of the land is allowed a shared portion of the crops for no charge. this was one way blacks made a living on a farm after they were freed and because whites still didn't find them equal during this time they struggled to find farms to sharecrop on. -

Huge landmark for black rights. this court decision was one that help a big impact on the U.S. Basically Blacks were being denied education in certain school because of their race and they did not like that they could not attend school with whites because it made them feel different and less. -

Rosa Parks
Rosa Park was A big role in the Boycott of Montgomery. She refused to move to the back for a white rider and was arrested but this was not her idea she got it from another young lady but felt she would be a better leader in the situation if they let Rosa do it. -

A time where blacks refused to ride the bus because of unequal rights given to them on the busses.For so long the walked or carpooled making the bus companies lose money to prove a point. -

This civil rights act was for the equality of African americans and whites. The whites mistreated the African americans and made a different things for them, and of course the whites would get more privileged things. allowed for equality amongst the two. -

Sit ins were whenever people would gather together and sit in a place to take up space just to make a point across. During the civil rights fight lots of blacks would do this in public areas, and areas only for whites -

JFK first utilized this term. he said it so that governments could make sure that people were employed and allowed work for their living -

Was a leader for the latin during the civil rights act. was looked up to as a person and a leader. -
24th amendment
It allowed people to vote in any primary no matter what their race or sex. it helped with electing vice president and all. Congress by law has power to enforce this law as well. -
Betty Friedan
was a great role model for woman because she was an activist and writer. she wrote a book in 1963 titled "The woman Mystique" talking about woman and their advantages. -
