Czechoslovakia among one of the best farring nations during depressino with unemployment not breaking 13%. Its likely my grandpa is liveing on the edge at this time. Everyone strugeled to get by during these times. This adversity likely drove him to stronger religous faith. -

Germany takes over Czechoslovakia
The Czechs gave in easily because they had no help and in October 1938, German troops marched into the Sudetenland.
They occupied the rest of the country in March 1939. This had to have major effects on my grandpa sicne from his very birth he'd lived in an independent nation, not one ruled by another. During the occupaton my grandpa worked for Radio Free Europe speaking out aginst german rule. This leads to his placement in a concentrtation camp. -

Germans Surrender
at some popint during the war my grandpa managed to escape the concentration camp along with 5 other men. He and 1 other man were the only ones able to survive after escaping the actual prison. At this point m y grandpa must really be thinking about 1 thing, "i have to leave this country". German surrender was probably viewed as a good thing by him but probably didnt change the fact that he wanted out of there. -

By this time my grandpa has become resident of the United states due to the aid of the man he escpaed and survived with. The man turned out to be an american citizen and helped him get though the process of becoming a US citizen along with my now 2 year old mother. -

My grandpa was probably inspired by the speech as many americans were but for him it was probably more due to rthe issues of racial equality. At the time blacks were not only ones misstreated. He likely advocated for equality on the basis for equality of immigrants. -

Has to be scary when you move to a country and the president is assasinated. Who knows what chaos could come about from this. It was a scary time in amerca. -
Civil Rights Act Passes in U.S.
already adressed in the i have a dream speech section, i think my grandpa would have been a large supporter of this especialy since he also was aprt of radio free europe during WWII which was a major denoucer of german segrigatrion of Jews. -

US invovlemnt in yet another war probably was not popular to my grandpa who likely wanted to avoid being dfrafted especaily since he was in process of supporting my mother and his wife. -

Getting older in age, my grandpa probably cared about the event and was worried for the safety of his chidlren and grand children but at this point hes not going to be haveing a large care for the event on a non personal level. -

pryor to this he had lost both his legs due to infection. His last days were likely misreable spent in a nursing home due to the high level of care required daily.
Pryor to actual death however. he did ghave the opertunity to speak with many of his grandkids.
