The Attack on Pearl Harbor
Digital HistoryAircraft and midget submarines of the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked the U.S naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Japanese hit American ships and military installations. A wave of 170 Japanese aircraft, mostly torpedo bombers, attacked the fleet anchored in Pearl Harbor. The battleship Arizona was hit blowing the ship apart and sinking it within seconds. It was one of eight US battleships at the dock, five of which were sunk. The surprise attacked killed 3,457 soldiers and sailors. -

Executive order 9066 was signed into law. This order was given to remove all Japanese A mericans from near military bases and most of the west coast to desalete camps in the middle of no wear.The reason why the camps were established were to make sure their were not any spies. -

General McArthur leaves the Phillipenes. The 90,000 American and Phillipeno soldiers eventually lose. -

United States dropped the atomic bomb "Fat Man" on the city of Nagasaki, Japan. -

President Truman Signs Bill
This bill is called Japanese American Evacuation. This tried to let the Japanese Americans compensation. It was not very succesful in giving them money for their hardsips. The conditions were very bad. Most of the shacks were very poorly insulated and guarded by armed guards. This president said that the Inernment camps were like the concentration camps. -
First attempt of componsation
The Japanese Americans of California and Nevada propose a bill for componsating the detaiened Japanese Americans. This bill started the thought of componsating the people. -
Bill HR 5977
This bill called Japanese American rights violation act was proposed by japanese americans to the congress. This bill proposed 20,000 dollars per person. This money was trying to help the people from the hardships that they faced when they came home. Many of their homes and buisness were taken and they had to fight to get them back. -
