in April 26, 1607 john smith landed on virgina land and settled there and started a civilization. -

on may 26 1607 settlers made the decision of calling it jamestown
and the leader was john smith. -

later on that year john smith was captured by indians and the leader of the powtan indians sentanced him to death but pocahontas saved his life (later on pocahontas married the english settler john rolfe and later died of small pox). -

by the end of the first year most settlers had died of starvation or diesese. -

in 1608 john lead an expodetion up by the cheapskake bay and he got stung by a string ray and almost died and from that point on that part of the Rapahannock river is called sting ray point. -

john smith was hurt in a gunpowder explosion ad he left the following year. -

in 1614 john smith sailed back to america he sailed to maine and massachusettes and went back to england with furs.(he neverwent back to virgina). -

in june 1631 john smith died.
